Anxiety....shyness...nervousness...
Whatever you call it it's all the same thing really...and something I've struggled with all my life. I never really cared to identify it either until I was saved (about 2 years ago). I've brought it to God in prayer for quite a long time to no real response. Is it something that can be overcome by prayer? After 19 years I have not really grown out of it. There is probably a "Medical" way to fix it....but after seeing what drugs have done to my dad over the years I refuse to go that route.
It's finally becoming a large bother to me. I've been trying to befriend some of my fellow Oasis peers. But it's a very awkward thing to try and do. One particular person I don't think would ever want to speak to me again (I won't mention any names). It's just starting to get me depressed at this point.
Bottom line I guess is....I'm trying to make some real christian friends who I could be happy to fellowship with, but it's just not happening like I would like....

I think the only real advice beyond prayer that I can offer to you is to try and identify why you feel these things. That you have identified the issue is a good step, now you need to analyze the why.
Is it a lack of self confidence that leads to the anxiety and nervousness. Sometimes things like that can be overcome by just changing our perception of ourselves. I think going up to people and trying to get to know them is a good start even if things get off on the wrong foot, and that in of itself may not be as bad as you perceive it to have been.
I would say keep trying and don't get down on yourself about things so much.
9 out of 10 times things are never as bad as you think they are and the times that they are bad theres never any doubt if they are.
So I guess what im saying is to relax and try to take things in stride and see where that gets you. And the only other thing that I got, is that if you bring it to God make sure you leave it with God, doesn't make much sense to ask someone to help carry something but pick it right back up before they get the chance to help you with it.
Sorry im not too much help but thats just my thoughts |
